I'm not a fan of doing small doilies because they don't really serve much purpose. However, I was inspired to try and crochet a doily directly into a hoop, and I am absolutely in love with the outcome.
This pattern is "Doily 96" from Patricia Kristoffersen's book "99 Little Doilies" which is not available for purchase at this time. It is only 12 rounds and not very challenging at all. What I mean to say, is that I'd probably consider it an intermediate-level pattern.
I used a 1.75mm hook and it was about the perfect size; it was small enough to be pulled tight into the hoop as I crocheted the final round. This is the first time I've crocheted into a hoop using this method, and it was a little challenging at the very end, but doable. I love how it turned out.
This hooped doily works perfectly as an ornament. If you are interested in purchasing this piece or one in different colors, check out my commission page (linked at the top of this page) for more information or go directly to the listing.
